The peterborough Petes dropped a 5-1 decision to the Oshawa Generals in the Generals home opener on Friday night at the GM Centre.
The Generals opened the scoring on the powerplay 1:14 into the game on a goal by Lucas Lessio and built a 2-0 lead on a goal by Geoffrey Schemitsch that redirected off of Clark Seymour past Petes goaltender Michael Giugovaz at 11:59. The Petes got on the board with their first powerplay goal of the season at 13:25 on Francis Menard's 3rd goal of the season with assists to Brett Findlay and Slater Koekkoek.
The Generals added a pair of second period goals by Tyler Biggs at 3:00 and Scott Laughton at 13:50 to build a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes and added their 5th of the night 3:55 into the 3rd when Michael Dal Colle beat Giugovaz on the 46th shot of the game.
Next action for the Petes is Thursday night when they host the Sudbury Wolves at the PMC.
