One Pete selects another Pete 10th overall

Possibly the best Petes player to wear the maroon and white, Steve Yzerman used the 10th overall selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to select Petes defenseman Slater Koekkoek to the Tampa Lightning.

Koekkoek's season was cut short in 2012 when he suffered a season ending shoulder injury on November 27th in Windsor.  Koekkoek recorded 5 goals and 18 points in 26 games before the injury.

Slater is the 8th defenseman selected in the first ten picks of the NHL Entry Draft and is the third OHL player selected following Nail Yakupov (1st) and Alex Galchenyuk (3rd of the Sarnia Sting.

Check back later for complete video of the Tampa Lightning selection of Slater Koekkoek 10th overall.
