Lino Martschini and Nick Ritchie both converted on shootout attempts and Andrew D'Agostini was perfect in the shootout propelling the Petes to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Mississauga St. michael's Majors on Saturday night.
Martschini opened the scoring 7:55 into the game for his 11th of the season and 3rd in 2 games since returning from the World Junior Championships with Team Switzerland, however, the Majors evened the gme at 12:32 of the 1st with a goal by overage forward Jordan Mayer.
The Majors took their first lead of the game 13:26 into the 2nd when rookie forward Scott Teskey netted the lone goal of the period.
The Petes came out in the 3rd determined to pull off a victory as Cole Murduff scored his first OHL goal at 5:42 and Joey West converted a wraparound attempt at 9:46 to take a 3-2 lead. Again the Majors battled back with the tying goal at 16:57 by former Pete Jamie Wise forcing overtime and the eventual shootout.
Next action for the Petes is Thursday January 12th when they host the Kitchener Rangers at 7:05pm before travelling to the Nations Capital on Friday and hosting the Guelph Storm on Saturday.
