For the second time in as many games the Petes dropped a 5-1 decision to the Oshawa Generals. Tonight's game, held at the Ajax Community Centre in support of Ajax Minor Hockey was a close, very physical affair for the first 2 period before the Generals capitalized on a depleated Petes line up in the third period.
The Generals opened the scoring at 13:15 of the 1st period on a goal by Michael Dal Colle and held the lead until Nick Ritchie accepted a stretch pass from Eric Cornel at 7:48 of the second period to tie the game for the Petes. Emmerson Clark tipped a point shot over the shoulder of Petes goaltender Michael Giugovaz on the power play at 17:07 and Bradley Latour made it 3-1 just 39 seconds later.
The 2nd period was a very spirited period featuring six fights in the first 2 minutes 49 seconds that quickly depleated the Petes line up.
The Generals continued to add to their lead in the third period with goals by Scott Laughton at 5:47 and Dal Colle at 15:23 to make the final 5-1 for the Generals. Petes goaltender Michael Giugovaz made 47 saves in the loss.
Next action for the Petes is Tuesday night when they travel to Newmarket to play the Brampton Battalion. They return to the PMC on Thursday night to close out the pre-season schedule against the Mississauga Steelheads at 7:05pm.
