The Peterborough Petes earned their 4th point in three games this week with their first shootout loss, following and overtime loss on Thursday and a victory on Tuesday.
The Attack opened the scoring 3:16 into the game on a powerplay goal by Cameron Brace, but the Petes battled hard to even the game on a point shot by Slater Koekkoek for his second of the season at 14:32. assists went to Clark Seymour and Zach Lorentz. The Attack restored their lead before the end of the period on Brace's second of the game and 9th of the season at 18:24 giving the home team a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Luke Hietkamp recorded his first goal of the season 11:10 into the second period with assists going to Eric Cornel and Josh Maguire, who recorded his first OHL point, however, again the Attacke restored their lead before the end of the period on a goal by Daniel Catenacci at 11:39 and lead 3-2 after 40 minutes.
The Petes came to play in the third period with Steven Trojanovic scoring his third goal in four games at 9:34 and took their first lead of the game when Stephen Nosad showed hus speed blasting past the Attack defenders to rip a shot past goaltender Brendon Hope for his first of the season at 16:54. The Ataack pulled Hope from the goal for the extra attacker and were successful with just 47.5 seconds remaining when Catenacci banged in his second of the game to tie things up at 4 and send the game to overtime.
Overtime solved nothing and the teams headed to the shootout where Brace was the hero for the attack with the winning goal. The Petes are now in Guelph on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm to take on the Storm.
