The Peterborough Petes opened a 3 game Western Conference road trip on Friday night with a 4-3 win over the Plymouth Whalers, snapping an 8 game winning streak for the Whalers.
Lino Martschini opened the scoring for the Petes with a powerplay marker redirecting Alan Quine's slap pass into the Whalers goal 7:53 into the game. The Whalers evened the game before the end of the first period with a goal by Garrett Meurs at 16:51.
Jamie Devane gave the Whalers their only lead of the game 5:08 into the 2nd period, but the Petes came right back with a goal from Andrew Yogan at 6:49 and restored their 1 goal lead at 7:43 on a goal by Austin Watson, however, the Whalers would again tie things up before the end of the second period on a penalty shot goal by Alex Aleardi at 9:31.
The Petes scored the lone goal of the 3rd period with just 1:49 remaining in regulation time when Alan Quine drove the net the complete a pass from Matt Puempel giving the Petes a 4-3 win in Plymouth.
