The Peterborough Petes dropped their 57th home opener at the hands of the visiting Oshawa Generals 5-2 on Thursday night at the peterborough Memorial Centre.
The Generals opened the scoring in an exciting first 20 minutes of hockey in the 2012-13 season on a goal by Lucas Lessio at 11:07 and then built a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes on another goal by Lessio at 8:44 and a pair by Boone Jenner at 10:19 and 14:28.
The Generals added to their lead 4:16 into the 3rd period before Francis Menard scored his first goal in a Petes uniform at 8:29 since coming over in a trade with the Guelph Storm in June. Assists went to Stephen Pierog and Slater Koekkoek. Pierog then netted a goal of his own at 11:13 with assists to Menard and Clark Seymour to make the final 5-2 for the Generals.
The Petes will now travel to Ottawa on Saturday to take on the 67's at Scotiabank Place in Kanata before returning home to host Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters on Thursday September 27th at 7:05pm.
