PETES FOR PEDIATRICS is raising funds for childhood cancer research. The Canadian Cancer Society supports children and their families in our community living with cancer.
The Peterborough Petes and the Canadian Cancer Society’s partnership over the last two years has raised over $115,000 for cancer research. Both
‘PINK IN THE RINK’ and ‘RINK OF RIBBONS’ set a record as the highest OHL fundraising event in 2010 and 2011. The 2012 event has been dedicated to the children living in our community who have battled with the cancer and in memory of those who lost their fight.
GAME DETAILS:
- When using the promo code (CCS) when purchasing tickets online or at the box office, $4 will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society
- A bucket pass will take place during the first period
- Silent auction of autographed NHL jerseys will take place in the lobby
- Peterborough Petes game-worn jerseys will be autographed and auctioned off during a live auction at the end of the third period
- Petes Souvenir Shop will have limited edition t-shirts and pucks available with 100% of the proceeds supporting pediatric cancer research.
Jack Prins, an 18 year old boy attending Fenelon Falls Secondary School will be dropping the puck at centre ice at Petes for Pediatrics. February 9th is a significant day for Jack and his family. On February 9, 2007, after fighting for cancer for four years, Jack received a life-saving bone marrow transplant that put him into remission.
Because of the research the Canadian Cancer Society has funded, 25 years ago 50% of children diagnosed with leukemia survived compared to 80% today. But there is still much work that needs to be done.
The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community based organization of volunteers, whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.
Thanks for joining in the fight against pediatric cancer!
