For the third consecutive game the Peterborouhg Petes went to overtime. this time their opponents were the Guelph Storm on Sunday afternoon.
The Petes opened the scoring 5:01 into the game when Francis Menard beat his out team on the powrplay with Zach Lorentz standing in front causing the screen. Matt Finn evened the game for the Storm at 9:36, but the Petes restored their lead on Menard's second of the game at 10:45 and increased their lead on a goal by Zach Lorentz at 15:05. The Storm closed out the period scoring with goals by Justin Auger at 16:07 and Scott Kosmachuk at 18:58 to even the game at 3's after 20 minutes.
The Storm continued to score opening the second period on a goal by Patrick Watling at 1:35. With the Storm leading 4-3, the Petes evened the game on a goal by Eric Cornel at 2:11 and took the lead at 3:14 on Greg Betzold's first OHL goal, however, Zack Mitchell evened the game for the Storm at 4:36, but Stephen Nosad restored the Petes lead at 15:50 to give the Petes a 6-5 lead after 40 minutes.
The Storm scored the lone gone of the third period at 17:35 with a shorthanded marker by Mitchell to force overtime where Matt Finn recorded his second of the game to give the Storm a 7-6 win.
The Petes have now earned 5 out of their last possible 8 points and are now off until Thursday when they host the Plymouth Whalers at 7:05pm.
