The Sarnia Sting edged the Petes on Thursday night 5-4 following a 7 player shootout at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
The Sting opened the scoring22 seconds into the game on a goal by Brett Thompson, however Joey West evened the score at 4:57 but the Sting came back to take the lead again at 7:54 on a goal Julian Luciani. Again the Petes tied the game on a shorthanded goal by Alan Quine at 11:21 to send the teams to the dressing rooms tied at 2.
The Sting took their third lead of the game 1:30 into the 2nd period on an unassisted goal by Charles Sarault and the Sting took a 3-2 lead to the dressing room after 40 minutes.
The Petes tied the game 2:27 into the third period on a goal by Nick Ritchie and the Petes took their first lead of the game at 6:29 but this time the Sting even the game at 8:52 on Sarault's 2nd goal of the game and the teams headed for overtime.
Overtime solved nothing and a shootout began. After 7 shooters, Craig Hottot gave the Sting the win.
Next action for the Petes is Saturday night when they host the Ottawa 67's at 7:05pm.
