Spits double Petes 6-3

The Peterborough Petes ended a 3 games in 3 days weekend with a 6-3 loss to the Windsor Spitfires at the WFCU Centre in Windsor on Sunday afternoon.

The Spitfires opened the scoring with a pair of goals at 5:51 of the first period by ex-Pete Adrian Robertson on the power play and 10:12 from Nick Czinder but the Petes battled back with a pair of goals by Austin Watson at 11:19 and Joey West at 14:27 to tie the game before the end of the period.

The Spitfires again opened the scoring 57 seconds into the second period to take a 3-2 lead on a goal by Kerby Rychel but Derek Mather again tied the game with his 2nd goal in as many games and the teams again went to the dressing room tied after two periods.

The Third period was all Spitfires on the scoresheet taking the lead on a penalty shot goal by Michael Clarke at 10:23 and Ben Johnson scored a pair of goals at 13:49 and 18:57 into the empty net to make the final 6-3 for the Spits.

Next action for the Petes is Thursday night when they host the Sarnia Sting at the PMC at 7:05pm.
