The Petes closed out their pre-season schedule with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Mississauga Steelheads at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday night.
Stephen Nosad opened the scoring for the Petes at 2:15 of the first period and Peter Ceresnak made it 2-0 at 4:52 of the first as the Petes skated to their second consecutive 2-0 first period lead.
The Steelheads got on the scoreboard 4:35 into the second period on a goal by Josh Burnside, and the Petes held a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
The Steelheads opened the scoring in the 3rd period with goals by Dylan DeMelo at 1:23 and Burnside at 2:39 to take a 3-2 lead on the Petes, however, Brett Findlay scored his second goal in as many games at 6:29 of the 3rd period forcing a shootout.
In the shootout, Zach Lorentz was the only Petes player to score as both Stuart Percy and Kristoff Kontos scored for the Steelheads to make the final 4-3.
Zach Lorentz added 2 assists and Ceresnak a single helper as well as Stephen Trojanovic and Trevor Murphy.
Next action for the Petes is their Regular Season Home Opener on Thursday September 20th against the Oshawa Generals.
