Team Ontario wins Bronze Medal at World U17 Challenge

Congratulations to Stephen Nosad, Nick Ritchie, Trevor Murphy and Petes Assistant Coach Wayne Clark on winning the Bronze medal this afternoon at the World U17 Challenge in Windsor, Ontario with a 5-2 win over Team Sweden.

Folloowing a scoreless first period Team Sweden opened the scoring 8:43 into the second period on a goal by Leon Bristedt, but Team Ontario evened the game at 12:28 on a goal by Bo Horvat of the London Knights. Sweden restored their lead at 14:42 on Bristedt's second of the game taking a 2-1 lead to the dressing room after 4 minutes.

The third period was all Team Ontario as they erased Sweden's lead 20 seconds into the period on a goal by Malcolm Subban of the Belleville Bulls and went on to score another three unanswered goals by Nick Baptiste of the Sudbury Wolves at 2:02 and a pair by Max Domi of the London Knights at 7:39 and 14:21.  Petes defenceman Trevor Murphy recorded an assist on Domi's first goal.

Team Ontario players will return to their respective OHL teams Thursday, but it not expected Ritchie, Nosad and Murphy will be in the line up on Thursday night when the Petes host the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:05pm.
