Petes Fall to Spirit 5-3.

The Peterborough Petes dropped the first game of a three games in four nights weekend to the Saginaw Spirit 5-3.
The Petes jumped out to an early 2-0 first period lead on goals by Steve Downie at 5:24 and at 11:40 when Petes rookie Branislav Rehus scored his first of his OHL career on a short handed break away.
The second period was all Saginaw as Ryan McDonough tallied 4:31 into the frame and Patrick McNeill scored his first of the game just one minute later. Both goals were scored on the power play. Jan Mursak finished off a special teams period scoring short handed at 18:42.
The Petes tied the game 4:50 into the third when Daniel Ryder got two whacks at the puck from short range beating Ryan Daniels for his 8th of the season. The Spirit however would close out the scoring with goals from Zack Torquato at 13:01 and McNeill his second of the game at 17:57.
