January 11, 2010
The Peterborough Petes have acquired defenceman Brian Birkhoff from the Ottawa 67’s in exchange for a 5th round draft pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.

“With an injury to Barron Smith that will keep him out of the line up for 6-8 weeks we were forced to acquire another defencman” says Petes General Manager Jeff Twohey. “Brian is a player who will bring some depth to our blueline and is a player who has been well coached by Brian Kilrea and Chris Byrne.”
Birkhoff was an 11th round draft pick of the 67’s in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection and played his game in the OHL on September 19, 2008 recording an assist against the Brampton Battalion.
