Petes fall to Knights 8-2
January 24, 2010
The Peterborough Petes continue their weekend road trip this afternoon in London with a Matinee game against the Knights.
The Knights opened the scoring 3:53 into the game on a point shot by Steven Tarasuk, but the Petes battled back with a shorthanded marker by Pat Daley, his 21st of the season at 6:39. The Knights came right back with a pair of goals by Nazem Kadri at 13:05 on the powerplay and Daniel Erlich at 14:35. The birthday boy, Matt Puempel recorded his 20th goal of the season a minute and 23 seconds later depositing a Pat Daley pass behind Knights netminder Michael Hutchinson at 15:58. The Knights would get one more before the period end when Kalle Ekelund's point shot beat Jason Mmissiaen at 16:24. That would be the end of the afternoon for Missiaen as he was replaced by rookie goaltender Andrew D'Agostini following the Ekelund goal.
The Knights continued their scoring to start the second period with a trio of goals by Jared Knight 40 seconds into the period followed by Reid McNeill at 3:26 and Tarasuk's second of the game at 15:49 on the powerplay giving the Knights a 7-2 lead over the Petes after two periods of play.
The Knights added a final marker in the third period on Kadri's second of the night at 15:49 making the final 8-2 for the Knights.
Next action for the Petes is Thursday January 28th when they play host to the Belleville Bulls at 7:00pm.
