The Peterborough have just five games remaining in the 2009-2010 regular season including home games against Ottawa, Mississauga, Sudbury and Oshawa.  The Petes lone away game remaining is this Sunday in Oshawa.

The Petes will look to rebound after sliding to sixth in the Eastern Conference with injuries to Ryan Spooner, Jack Walchessen and Austin Watson on January 21st.  Wlachessen returned to action on February 11th and has recorded 2 goals and 7 assists in 9 games.  Austin Watson made his return to the Petes line up on Friday night in Guelph after being cleared by the teams orthopedic surgeon earlier that morning.  Watson quickly made his presence felt scoring a late goal in Guelph to pull the Petes to win in a goal, and he notched his 14th of the season and 3rd in 5 games with the Petes on Saturday night in Owen Sound.

In the absence of Spooner, Watson and Walchessen, Matt Puempel has shown his character and ability scoring 7 goals and 10 assists in 17 games while earning OHL Rookie of the Month honours for January.  Puempel currently leads all OHL rookies in scoring with 27 goals and 23 assists this season.  Matt will make it difficult for OHL Officials to not name him back to back rookie of the month with February totals of 6 goals, 7 assists and 13 points in 11 games.  Saginaw's Vincent Trocheck is second with 2 goals, 10 assists for 12 points in 12 games followed by Gabriel Landeskog of Kitchener with 6 goals. 5 assists and 11 points in 11 games while the OHL's second leading rookie scorer, Boone Jenner of the Oshawa General has recorded 1 goal, 8 assists for 9 points in 12 games.

Next up for the Petes are a pair of home games against the East Division leading Ottawa 67's on Thursday and the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors on Saturday before playing their final road game on Sunday in Oshawa.

On Saturday the Petes will honour their 1989 OHL Championship team prior to the game.  Currently there are 18 members of this team and their families scheduled to attend the event.  Thursday March 11th when the Petes host the Sudbury Wolves is the final $5 Student night of the season.  All Students can purchase a regualr bowl ticket for just $5 with a valid student card, or a voucher distributed to their school.
