Acquired in a trade with the Kingston Frontenacs in November 2010.
Originally drafted by the Frontenacs in the 1st round, 2nd overall in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Jr. Canadians. Played most of his minor hockey with the Eastern Ontario Wild.
Recorded his first OHL goal on September 17th, 2009 at Niagara IceDogs.
Recorded 25 points in his first 24 games with the Petes including an 18 game point streak where he recorded 21 points.
Drafted by the Detroit Redwings in the 2nd round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
